report earnings of $1.25 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company affirmed its projections for 2013 revenues of approximately $122 billion and cash flows from operations in a range of $7.2 billion to $7.6 billion.

Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $5.44 per share and revenues of $122.53 billion for fiscal 2013.
VALUATION

UNH’s financial fundamentals are a strong and “healthy”, with adequate amount of cash flows supporting its share repurchase programs and dividends.  As expressed by many analysts before, the needs of service provider will increase over the next ten years as baby boomers are in the retirement ages when they will require medical attentions extensively.  With the ACA reform, the number of plan members will likely to increase, which is a positive sign for the entire health care segment; however because of the increased competition, the premium shall face downward pressures attributed to the much intensive competitions as introduced by the exchange.  In the mix of good financial results and uncertainty within the industry, I would recommend investors to retain current positions or to get into the long position if he/she has high to medium risk tolerance.
